Lobos Lead After Opening Round of MWC Championships

SUNRIVER, Ore. - Juniors Spencer Levin and Jay Choi led the University of New Mexico men's golf team to the opening round lead of the MWC Championships on Thursday. UNM finished round one with a 3-under par 285 on the par-72, 7,568 yard Crosswater Course in Sunriver, Ore. The Lobos lead both BYU and San Diego State by seven strokes.

Levin led the way for New Mexico carding a 3-under par 69 to claim the top spot after round one. One stroke behind Levin is teammate Choi who shot a 2-under par 70. Levin and Choi were two of only six players to shoot under par in the first round. Senior Madalitso Muthiya is tied for seventh with an even par 72 and tied for 17th are senior Miguel Griego and sophomore Charlie Beljan both at 2-over par.

The second round of the MWC Championships is tomorrow with tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m. MST. Live stats and full results can be found at www.golfstat.com.
