Lobo Women's Basketball Signs Four to NLIs

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico women's basketball program announced today that four prospective student-athletes will be enrolling at the University of New Mexico in the fall of 2010. Signed letters of intent were received from Brianna Taylor (Amarillo Palo Duro High School/Amarillo, Texas), Jasmine Patterson (Amarillo Palo Duro High School/Amarillo, Texas), Tina Doughty (Granbury High School/Granbury, Texas) and Erin Boettcher (Carondelet High School/Concord, Calif.) during the early fall signing period.

Brianna Taylor, a 5-5 guard from Amarillo, Texas, joins the Lobos from Amarillo Palo Duro High School. Taylor last season was a District 3-4A first-team player in Texas. Taylor averaged 9.9 points and 5.1 assists per game last year for head coach A.J. Johnson at PDHS.

Head Coach Don Flanagan on Taylor, "Brianna is a left-handed guard with good speed and an strong understanding of the position. She is strong physically and has great vision on the court."

Jasmine Patterson, a 5-7 shooting guard from Amarillo, Texas, joins UNM from Amarillo Palo Duro High School. Patterson, who is a teammate of Taylor, averaged 16.5 points and 4.2 rebounds a game last season for coach Johnson at PDHS. Patterson was the District 3-4A Player of the Year and was a first-team all-District player.

Tina Doughty, a 5-10 guard from Granbury, Texas, joins New Mexico from Granbury High School. Doughty was named a Class 4A pre-season All-State player by Texas Basketball magazine this year. Doughty averaged 9.9 points and 10 rebounds as a sophomore.

Head Coach Don Flanagan on Doughty, "Tina is a gifted player with great range. She has been coached by one of the nation's top coaches and it shows. She is very disciplined and with a great work ethic."

Erin Boettcher, a 6-4 post player from Concord, Calif., becomes part of the Lobo family from Carondelet High School. Boettcher averaged 7.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior. Boettcher helped lead her CHS team to the Interscholastic Federation Division II State Championship game last year.

Head Coach Don Flanagan on Boettcher, "Erin is fundamentally sound and a blue collar player. She plays on one of the top high school teams in California and will help us in the post."

New Mexico closes the early signing period with five total signees including Morgan Toben from Owasso, Okla., who signed on Wednesday.

The current Lobos open the 2010-11 season Friday, November 13, against Northern Colorado in the first round of the preseason WNIT at 7:00 p.m. in The Pit.
