WOODSTOCK, Ga. --- New Mexico softball dropped a 3-2 decision to Centenary College in game one and fell to Indiana State, 10-1, Saturday to be eliminated from the Buzz Classic. The Lobos finish the tournament with a 1-3 record after defeating Lipscomb on Friday. This year, UNM is 2-7 against a difficult slate and will look to rebound next week at the Jayhawk Classic.

Centenary took an early lead in game one with a run in the first inning on an RBI single from Micah Rhodes. The Ladies added another in the second to go ahead 2-0 before UNM responded with a lead off double by freshman Katie Gilmore. Gilmore started the rally and scored on an RBI double from senior Becky Dover.

The Lobos were within a run until the fourth inning, when Emerald Doria scored Allison McClain on a double off the center field wall. UNM fought back in the fifth with two hits and a run. Junior Ashley Allen led off the inning with a double down the left field line and eventually came around to score on a single to center field by sophomore Analise Rubalcava. Despite the late rally, Centenary held on for the 3-2 victory.

Junior Kelly Ninemire took the loss for the Lobos going the distance. Ninemire falls to 1-3 on the year after giving up three runs on eight hits while five strikeouts.

Senior Caley Peterson started the game and only went 1.1 innings. Freshman Tori Rogers came on in relief to pitch the final three holding ISU to two runs on three hits.

Gilmore led UNM at the plate during the Buzz Classic going 4-for-10 with three runs scored, two doubles and a home run. Allen had a strong weekend going 2-for-5 with a double and three runs.
