ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico softball coach Ty Singleton announced the dates for the 2007 summer camps Monday. UNM will hold a summer camp on July 10-12 for ages 8-21. The elite camp is set for July 16-18 for advanced campers from the ages of 15-21. The camps are designed to help develop individual skills with the guidance of proven professionals.

Summer Camp - July 10 - July 12

Our summer day camps will be separated into three camps, each of which will focus on a different aspect of the game. Tuesday will cover beginning to advanced fundamentals of offense (hitting, short-game, base running). Wednesday will cover defense (throwing, receiving, position-specific play). Thursday will focus on pitching and catching (pitchers do not need to bring a catcher). All camp instruction by Lobo Head Coach Ty Singleton and his staff and current and former players. Camp structure includes lecture (25%) and participation in softball drills in small groups with instructors. Campers will learn the same skill techniques and drills used by the New Mexico Lobos softball team as they prepare for Mountain West Conference and NCAA D-1 competition.

Elite Camp - July 16 - July 18

This is a highly competitive camp designed for advanced softball players from high school, club and junior college teams who wish to advance to college competition. Camp will feature a skills showcase on Monday, advanced skill instruction on Tuesday and Wednesday morning (including slap hitting, nutrition, pitching, catching, and more), and live team softball game competitions each afternoon and evening.
