Lobo Women `s Soccer Opens Conference Play at UNLV

The University of New Mexico women's soccer team opens conference competition against UNLV on Friday at 7 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nev.

The squad is 6-1-3 on the season, with seven games remaining on the schedule before the Mountain West Conference tournament in San Diego, Calif. Nov. 4-7. Last year New Mexico recorded a record of 4-3-0 in MWC action.

SERIES INFORMATION AGAINST UNLV: The game marks the 15th meeting between the two squads with the Lobos leading the series 8-5-1. In the last matchup between the teams, New Mexico defeated UNLV 2-0 in Albuquerque, N.M. on Oct. 31, 2009.

SCOUTING UNLV The Rebels posted an 8-3-0 non-conference record and currently have a three-game winning streak. In their last outing, they defeated Weber State 1-0. UNLV was picked seventh in the MWC preseason poll.

Leading the team for UNLV is senior forward Ashleigh Shoughro who currently leads the Mountain West in both goals (nine) and points (21), and ranks in the top 10 in the nation in both.
