New Mexico vs. Wyoming
Jan. 8, 2011
New Mexico Head Coach Don Flanagan
"The main thing I would say for today is poor shooting. Poor shooting and not executing as well as we should be at this point in the year. Our shooting was 27% in the second half. That's the time when you've got to shoot better. We gave ourselves an opportunity to be in the game late by pressing, and then didn't block out a couple of times - didn't block out on the free-throw line. It's pretty disappointing."
On his team's effort
"My feeling is, right now, I'm getting pretty decent effort and execution from my freshmen and not getting it from my older players. So we'll go back and give our freshmen some more opportunities."
On Wyoming's Execution
"They shot 51% for the game and we shot 30%. They made more shots and they executed. They've got four seniors - two of them are four-year starters - and they looked it. They really executed and ran their offense really well."
New Mexico Senior Guard Amanda Best
On her effort
"I try my best. I'm working the hardest I can out there. I can't speak for other people. I can only speak for myself."
Freshman Guard Jasmine Patterson
On Shooting Such A Low Percentage
"I think we're all pretty good shooters. When it comes to the game, we're not as mentally focused. We're rushing our shots."
Wyoming Head Coach Joe Legerski
"One of the things that I have always talked about in conference play is to try to find as many victories as you can on the road. This is a difficult place to play. New Mexico is very good and their fan base is tremendous. You need senior leadership that was provided by Hillary Carlson and Aubrey Vandiver tonight. They showed great composure they really carried us through the game. I thought their effort was huge."
