The Lobo men's golf team dropped to ninth place in the final round of the 2007 Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Course in Colorado Springs, Colo., today. New Mexico finished with a three round total of 877 (291-295-291), 25 strokes off the pace set by Iowa State (286-283-283=852) and Wichita State (288-278-286).

UNM was led by sophomore Brandon Putnam and junior Jon Sauer. Both finished tied for 19th individually at 2-over (216). Putnam shot an even-par 72 today, while Sauer posted a red number with a 71.

Junior Guillermo Chavez tied for 45th overall with a 7-over 223 (74-74-75). Junior Steve Saunders was one stroke back with a 224 (73-78-73, +8) while junior Jacob Lestishen tied for 51st at 225 (77-72-76, +9).

NM returns home next weekend for the 207 William H. Tucker Invitational at the UNM Championship Course. Action begins with the first two rounds on Friday, Sept. 14, and the final round on Saturday, Sept. 15.
