Presbyterian vs. New Mexico
Friday, November 16, 2007
Albuquerque, N.M. - The Pit

New Mexico Head Coach Steve Alford

Comment on tonight's game:
"I thought it was another game where we moved the ball really well. Everyone played tonight and got at least two shots up. I thought our board play got relaxed in the second half."

Comments on Chad Toppert's performance:
"Chad (Toppert) can shoot the ball and expose you in a hurry. He got us going and made some shots. I thought J.R. (Giddens) took some nice shots tonight. We have a lot of guys that can shoot the basketball but I think the key is we have to move the ball around to find those good shots. This team has really come a long way and we are starting to recognize quality shots.

Comments on playing against the zone defense:
"We scored 88 points, shot 54 percent from the field and made 13 three-pointers, so I thought we played pretty well against the zone. Tomorrow we are going to see a more athletic and extended zone."

Comment on finding the hot shooters:
"This team has done a very good job of finding who has it going and that has been a different player each game. This was another game where we had six guys make a three-point shot. We have been able to find the hot shooters and that is very encouraging."

Presbyterian Head Coach Greg Nibert

Thoughts on the game:
"I am just proud of my guys. We are making the transition to Division I. We are getting our name out there playing some top level programs. We started out 5-2 and we played like we belong. Whether we are good enough is another story. We don't back down, we keep playing. We have a good program and a good school but they were just obviously too much for us in terms of their size and athleticism."

Comments on playing in The Pit:
"It was incredible. I was here as an assistant coach at Presbyterian and I have been here for the final four. This is a reunion and it was very exciting to bring a team back here to play at one of the neatest places in the country."
