University of New Mexico junior Tiyana Peters has been flying high once again this season. Peters has been the Mountain West Conference's No. 1 high jumper throughout the indoor season and will be looking for her third consecutive conference title in the event this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.

In 2007, the Flanders, N.J. product became only the second woman at UNM to sweep both indoor and outdoor high jump titles in the same year, making her a three-time all-MWC honoree in the event. Though not yet in top form, Peters has been a very consistent jumper this winter. She has cleared 5' 7" in three of her four competitions, including a season-best 5' 8" bar in her last outing as part of an elite field at Arkansas.

UNM media relations student assistant Christa Martinez sat down with Peters before practice on Tuesday to talk about her path to New Mexico and the pressure of being the hunted in the MWC high jump competition.
