Max Jones Extends Stay in Costa Mesa Tournament

COSTA MESA, Calif. --- University of New Mexico men's tennis student-athlete Max Jones defeated Alexander Sarkissian today to continue play at the ATP futures Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif. Jones is only one win away from qualifying for the main draw. Both Kamil Pajkowski and Graeme Kassautzki lost their matches to end their playing time in the tournament.

Today (Sept. 16) was the final day of the NMSU Fall Invite in Las Cruces, N.M., where three Lobo men's tennis athletes were competing. Miles Bubgy, who struggled on Saturday, ended the Invite with a win over Morys from Northern Arizona University. Joe Wood and Derek Lynch each lost their final matches of the Invite. Wood lost to Bristow, also from Northern Arizona. Meanwhile, Lynch lost to Farias from ACU.

The Lobos men's team has a break before traveling to Tulsa, Okla., for the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Tournament. Pre-qualifying rounds begin on Sept. 28.
