COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of New Mexico junior Lauren Irwin was named Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Week as announced today by the conference office. Air Force senior defender Cassie Wilson also received the weekly honor. The award is her second of the season and her career. It is the sixth MW award of the season for the Lobos.

Irwin, from Anaheim, Calif., helped pace a New Mexico defensive back line that limited San Diego State to only nine shots in last Friday's double-overtime draw against the Aztecs. Irwin and the Lobo defense allowed only four shots on goal through 110 minutes of action. Irwin and the UNM defense prevented San Diego State from taking a single shot during the final 20 minutes of the match.

The Lobos will return to the UNM Soccer Complex on Saturday as they host UNLV in their second conference game of the season. New Mexico has a record of 6-4-3 on the season and are 0-0-1 in conference match-ups.
