LAS VEGAS, Nev. - New Mexico women's soccer dropped an overtime heartbreaker to UNLV Friday night in Las Vegas, 1-0. The Lobos outshot the Rebels, 12-10, during the contest and played their fourth straight overtime match. UNM fell to 6-5-3 on the year and 0-1-2 in Mountain West Conference action. UNLV moved to 6-7-1 and 1-2-0 in the MWC.
The Lobos were led offensively by seniors Kristine Sweat and Eryn Paetz. Sweat had four shots in the match with two on goal. Paetz was aggressive around the net taking three shots, with one on goal, for UNM. The Lobos had 12 shots as a team with six different athletes taking at least one shot.
Armani Rice scored the game-winner in the 99th minute to seal the victory for the Rebels. The goal was her fourth of the year and came on an assist from Taylor Fuentes.
UNM goalkeeper Shannon Adragna had six saves in 99 minutes of work. The Lobo defense held UNLV to just 10 shots in the match.
