LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of New Mexico JV men's golf team is in sixth place after 36-holes of play today at the Herb Wimberly/NMSU Invitational. The Lobos shot rounds of 288 and 296 on the University Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico to finish at 8-over par.

Individually New Mexico was led by Madalitso Muthiya who shot a two round total of 139 (68-71) to sit in a tie for 5th. Miguel Girego is tied for 24th at 2-over par (76-70) and Tyler Symons is tied for 41st at 150 (74-76). The final two Lobos are Jeb Grueneberger and Chase Thomas who are both tied for 52nd at 152.

The tournament lead belongs to Wichita State at 23 under par after rounds of 280 and 273. The Shockers lead second place Lamar by six strokes. The individual lead belongs to Chris Stroud of Lamar who is 13-under par with rounds of 67 and 64. Stroud leads Brian Thornburg of New Mexico State by four strokes.

The final 18-holes of the Herb Wimberly/NMSU Invitational will be played tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM.
