Lobo Skiers Get In A Training Race At Red River

RED RIVER, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico Nordic skiers got in a 13-kilometer freestyle training race on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Red River. The men and women competed against each other with sophomore Martin Kaas leading the way with a time of 27:48.00. Junior Polina Ermoshina was the top women's finisher, seventh overall, with a time of 32:32.00.

Former Lobo All-American and current UNM assistant coach Dirk Grimm showed he could still keep up, finishing just over one minute behind Kaas, with a time of 28:53.00.

Lobo freshman Ingrid Leask was not with the team in Red River as she heads to Europe to compete in the World Junior Championships in France next week.

The Lobo ski team returns to collegiate action on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 5-7, in Winter Park, Colo., for the RMISA Giant Slalom qualifier and University of Denver Invitational.
