Against Arizona: The Lobos and Wildcats have been playing against each other since 1940. Arizona holds a 151-33 lead in the series, 35-18 in Albuquerque. The last time Arizona came to town, the Lobos won the game, 13-3, on April 18, 2006.

Up Next: The Lobos will host Utah in a three-game Mountain West Conference series. Friday night's game at Isotopes Park is set for 6 p.m., and 12 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's 12 p.m. game will be at Lobo Field.

• SPORTSMANSHIP NIGHT ON APRIL 15 ... The Lobos will be hosting Sportsmanship Night on Tuesday, April 15, when Arizona comes to Isotopes Park. Joining Lobo fans that evening will be famous Texas Tech Heckler Chris Snead. Snead is well know for his heckling of opponents in a sporting manner at Texas Tech games. Snead will present Lobo fans with his "10 Commandments of Heckling" throughout the game.

• LOBOS GETTING NOTICED ... UNM is getting some recognition from the coaches who vote on the USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll. UNM received votes in the poll on March 3 after a quick 7-1 start, then again on April 7, at 20-11.

Kevin Atkinson NAMED MWC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ... Atkinson led UNM to a 4-1 record on the week, including a sweep of Air Force. On the week, he batted .550 (11-for-20) with 4 home runs, 2 doubles, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored. In the second game of a series vs. Texas Tech, Atkinson went 2-for-3 with 2 runs in UNM's 7-2 victory. In game one vs. Air Force, he hit a 2-run homer, helping the Lobos to a 7-1 win. In a 26-9 game two win, Atkinson went 4-for-5 at the plate with 2 home runs, a triple, 4 RBI and 4 runs. In the series finale, he turned in another 4-for-5 performance, smashing his fourth home run of the week, while also contributing 2 doubles, 5 RBI and 2 runs scored in UNM's 13-3 victory. Defensively, Atkinson had 51 putouts and three assists from the first base position.

BIG HOME WEEK FOR LOBOS ... With five big home games this week, the Lobos are pumping up the promotions at each game.

*Tuesday and Wednesday vs. Arizona - Sportsmanship Night will be Tuesday, featuring Texas Tech heckler Chris Snead with his "10 Commandments of Heckling". Snead will also be at Wednesday afternoon's matinee game.

*Friday vs. Utah - The Razzle Dazzle Cheerleaders will be in attendance for a special performance around the seventh inning.

*Saturday vs. Utah - PACK THE PARK - All tickets are $2 as the Lobos work to break their home attendance record. Following the Lobos game, the Isotopes will be sponsoring a Blood Drive at the ballpark.

*Sunday vs. Utah - Fiesta Day - The Lobos will be playing at Lobo Field - baseball and softball. The two teams are holding a party for fans between the two fields located on the south side of The Pit. Tickets are $2 to attend both games and the teams will host youth clinics following the games. A portion of the proceeds from the games will be donated to the Ambrose Alday Scholarship Fund.

ABOUT NEW MEXICO (24-12, 8-4 MWC) ... The Lobos will spend the last five weeks of the regular season fighting for a conference championship and a stronger RPI ... The majority of the Lobos remaining schedule is against Mountain West Conference competition (12 games) ... But over the next two weeks, UNM will play seven non-conference games against Top 5 team UC Irvine and Pac-10 power Arizona for good measure ... UNM received votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll for the second time this season on April 7 and hold an unofficial RPI of 52 going into the Arizona series ... The Lobos have put together two seven-game winning streaks this season ... Senior Matt Hibbitts leads the team in batting with a .369 average ... The right side of the infield, first baseman Kevin Atkinson and second baseman Mike Brownstein, have started every game for the Lobos in 2008 ... The weekend pitching has stabilized with seniors Bobby LaFromboise, Jacob Norton and Stephen Smith leading the way.

ABOUT ARIZONA (20-11, 3-6 Pac-10) ... The Wildcats are on a five-game win streak that began with two wins at San Diego State last week ... U of A swept Indiana State in a three-game non-conference series over the weekend ... Mike Weldon leads the team in hitting with a .382 average in 17 games, while everyday player T.J. Steele hits. .347 ... Right fielder Jon Gaston is the only Wildcat to play and start all 31 games ... The pitching staff is led by closer Jason Stoffel with a 2.08 ERA in 13 appearances with a 1-1 record and five saves.

CHANGING HIS TUNE ... When Lobo first baseman Kevin Atkinson asked to change his walk-up song 22 games into the season, the deal was that he had to start hitting better ... So far, so good ... Before the song change, Atkinson was hitting .319 with 13 runs, 30 hits, 12 RBI, 8 doubles, no triples, 1 home run, 2 walks, and 12 strikouts in 22 games ... 14 games into the change, the Surrey, B.C., Canada native is hitting .357 with 18 runs, 20 hits, 20 RBI, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 5 walks, and only one strikeout ... So what was the change in tunes? From the Top Gun Anthem to Rockstar by R. Kelly featuring Kid Rock and Ludacris.

LOBO HOME RUN DERBY ... The Lobos hit eight home runs on April 12 against Air Force, tied for second on the all-time UNM team home runs list ... The 26 RBI is third on the Lobos all-time list, while 28 hits ranks fourth ... UNM's 61 total bases are a MWC record, while the eight home runs ranks second in league history ... The home run breakdown - Brian Cavazos-Galvez (4), Kevin Atkinson (2), Ian Hollick (1), and Bret Fanning (1).

RECORD GAME FOR CAVAZOS-GALVEZ ... Brian Cavazos-Galvez set or tied five UNM and four Mountain West Conference records in the April 12 26-9 Lobo win over Air Force ... Cavazos-Galvez set UNM single-game records for home runs (4) and total bases (19), and tied single-game records in runs (6), hits (6), and RBI (10) ... All are also MWC records expect for hits ... The previous total bases record of 16 in a game was set by Walt Arnold against UTEP on April 18, 1980 ... The previous home run record of three in a game has held up for 13 years, last set by Mark Wulfert versus Air Force on May 13, 1995. Wulfert was in attendance at the game on April 12 in Farmington, N.M.

CLOSING TIME WITH COX ... Junior closer Clinton Cox is expected to be added to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award Watch List later this week for the work he has done for the Lobos in 2008 ... Cox leads UNM in appearances with 14 and saves with two ... Against San Diego State on April 3, Cox picked up his first win of the season with 2.1 innings of relief work in a 5-4 win ... Cox has a 3.65 ERA in 24.2 innings pitched with six walks and 18 strikeouts.

FINISHING THE JOB ... Lobo starting pitchers have been keeping the bullpen, including Cox, on the shelf lately ... UNM has four complete games on the season ... Transfer Will Kerr got things started with a complete game 12-3 win over Vermont on March 28 ... After not making an appearance for two weeks, senior Bobby LaFromboise has returned to the mound with a vengance ... In two straight appearances, the Roger Clemens Award candidate has thrown two complete games - a 5-2 win at San Diego State on April 4 and a 7-1 win over Air Force on April 11, seven days later ... Senior Stephen Smith worked the Lobos fourth complete game of the season on April 13 with a 13-3 win over Air Force.

MR. CONSISTENT ... No matter who leads the Lobos in batting average during the season, Matt Hibbitts will be right there in the mix ... The senior from Portland, Ore., currently leads the Lobos in hitting with a .369 average and 52 hits ... He is third in runs with 31 and second in doubles with 10 ... Hibbitts spends his days roaming left field on defense, after starting the season at third base for the injured Ian Hollick.

A CAREER MAN ... Third baseman Ian Hollick has started 182 games and played in 198 games over his four-year career with the Lobos ... Hollick has gradually worked his way back into the UNM starting lineup after having wrist surgery in early February ... His best game so far this season was on April 12 against Air Force with a 4-of-5 performance at the plate with two runs, two RBI, a double and a home run ... He also had five assists in the game from third base.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME ... The Lobos have found a new friendly confines to play home games in when there is a conflict at Isotopes Park ... UNM played a three-game series at Ricketts Park in Farmington, N.M., on April 11-13 ... Attendance for the three games totaled 2,284 for an average of 761 per contest ... Ricketts Park is used to a large crowd of rabid baseball fans as the site of the annual Connie Mack World Series in early August.
