ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Lobo softball head coach Erica Beach and her staff are pleased to announce the New Mexico Softball Winter Clinics, set to take place at the Lobo Softball Complex Saturday Jan. 14 and Sunday Jan. 15.

A series of sessions will occur both days and will cover: pitching mechanics and change up, slapping fundamentals and drills, offensive fundamentals, throwing pitches and infield and outfield defense.

Players 11 years old and up are encouraged to register and can sign up by session.

Beach will instruct both pitching sessions, while assistant coaches Lyndsey Angus and Christi Musser will lead the offensive portion of the clinic. Angus will also work with infielders and Musser will instruct outfielders and slappers. Current Lobo softball players will be assisting with each session.

Beach says attendees can expect to have fun, work hard and get better.

"Any athlete who attends a UNM softball clinic will receive top-notch instruction from a young, enthusiastic staff and our fantastic team," Beach said. "They will learn skills and techniques that will improve their game. The sessions are great for players who are just starting to get into softball as well as those who are looking toward their college careers."

Cost varies by session. For more information, or to register please visit www.newmexicosoftballcamps.com, or access the New Mexico Softball 2012 Winter Clinics Information and Registration form by clicking here.

All participants must include a copy of a medical insurance card and a signed waiver to complete their registration for the camp. All pitchers must provide their own catcher for the pitching clinic.

Completed forms, insurance cards and payment can be sent to:

Head coach Erica Beach is in her second season at the helm of the Lobo softball program. In her inaugural season, Beach led New Mexico to a record of 19-26. She, along with her staff, also fostered drastic improvements in several aspects of the Lobos' game in 2011, including team batting average, on-base percentage, RBIs, runs scored, home runs, fielding percentage and the limiting of fielding errors.

Beach is a former All-American and Academic All-American from Arizona State and spent time playing professionally before pursuing collegiate coaching. She was with Ohio State from the summer of 2006 through the 2010 season, working with Buckeyes' pitchers and catchers and coordinating other aspects of the game as well as daily team administration.

In her four years at OSU, pitchers and catchers earned three All-America selections, seven All-Region honors and one Big Ten Freshman of the Year honor.
