ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Even though the calendar says September, it is time for some baseball at Lobo Field. The Ray Birmingham era gets under way on Tuesday, Sept. 18, as the Lobo baseball team holds its first Fall Practice. The Lobos will practice until Nov. 11 with a Cherry & Silver series to be played in late October.

The Lobos got together as a group today to give the professional scouts a look at their skills. Approximately 14 representatives from professional baseball teams came to Lobo Field to watch the Lobos go through their paces.

Former Lobo Jordan Pacheco, the Mountain West Player of the Year and a two-time All-American, was hanging out in the clubhouse encouraging his former teammates during the activities. Pacheco, a ninth round MLB Draft pick by the Colorado Rockies in June, played for the Rookie League Casper Rockies for the majority of the summer and hit .292 over 55 games. He finished up the summer playing eight games for the Single A Tri-City Dust Devils.
