ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico women's basketball coach Don Flanagan announced the signing of Georonika Jackson to a National Letter-of-Intent today. Jackson a 5-11 guard from Sugar Land, Texas., led Elkins to a 30-6 record last season. Jackson will join incoming freshmen Amy Beggin (Roseville Area High School/Maplewood, Minn.), Valerie Kast (Gallup High School/Estonia), Christian Shelter (Faith Academy/Mobile, Ala.) and Eileen Weissmann (Loyola Academy/Chicago, Ill.) as members of the Lobo women's basketball program in the fall.
Georonika Jackson, a 5-11 guard from Sugar Land, Texas, joins the Lobos from Elkins High School. In 2005-06, Jackson was named the Elkins MVP averaging 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.0 block per game. Jackson was named first team all-district 20-5A as a junior and senior and was a second team selection as a freshman and sophomore. Jackson was also named to the Fort Bend ISD all-tournament team.
