    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's swimming and diving team fell tonight to the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. with a final score of 144-99. Freshman Ashley Grisdale earned two first place finishes, the first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.77) and the second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.53). The Lobos finished the night with a total of four first place finishes and six second place finishes.

    Another top finisher for the Lobos was senior Jenna Syverson who took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.89. Freshmen Jennifer Patterson and Micaela Hoglund, sophomore Kristen Naber and junior Amina Adnan made up the winning 400-yard free relay team (4:13.20).

    Second place finishers included junior Andrea Zarins, in the 200-yard IM (2:28.53), sophomore Katrina McLoughlin, in the 100-yard fly (1:07.09), junior Tori Clarridge, in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.31) and Jen Hale in the 400-yard free (4:44.26). Syverson also took second in the 100-yard free, finishing with a time of 1:01.49. Clarridge, Zarins, Grisdale and Syverson placed second for the Lobos in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.35).

    Freshmen Micaela Hoglund, Patterson and Theresa Rogers all earned third place honors. Hoglund finished third in the 50-yard free (28.08), Patterson in the 100-yard fly (1:07.63) and Rogers in the 100-yard free (1:01.50). Adnan and Zarins also had third place finishes for the Lobos. Adnan in the 400-yard free (4:46.65) and Zarins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.15).

    Junior diver Carrie Quinn took the second place spot on the 1-meter springboard (244.95) and also took fifth on the 3-meter board (130.65). Senior diver Joanna Garcia earned the fourth place spot on the 3-meter board with a score of 185.48.

    The Lobos (1-1) travel to Ft. Collins, Colo. tomorrow, Oct. 28th, where they will take on San Diego State, Colorado State and Air Force. Competition begins at 2:00 p.m. (M.S.T.). The Lobos will host the only home meet of the fall half of the season on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in the Seidler Natatorium. UNM presents Pack The Pool Night. Admission is free and free pizza will be provided while supplies last. Come out and support your UNM swim and dive team.
