New Mexico Tops Odessa College 4-0 And 3-2

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--The University of New Mexico softball team topped Odessa College 4-0 and 3-2 in a fall doubleheader Saturday at Lobo Field. With the Lobos trailing 2-0 in the second game, left fielder Danielle Castro ripped a triple in the fourth inning to drive in all three RBIs of the game. Right fielder Shenise Cox led New Mexico in the first game, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Kaela DeBroeck notched the win on the mound for the Lobos in the first game, pitching four innings. Samantha Gatson also pitched four innings in the second game and picked up the win.

In addition to Cox, leading hitters for New Mexico in the 4-0 win were Jessica Garcia and Erin Brandow, both 1-for-1 at the plate. Stefani Carramusa went 1-2.

Leading the Lobos at the plate in the second game were Jessica Garcia, Jordyn Bledsoe, and Danielle Castro. All went 1-for-2.

Saturday's doubleheader was the first time the Lobos took the field against another team this fall. New Mexico will host Luna Community College in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Games are set for 4 and 6 p.m. Please visit GoLobos.com for more information.
