ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The University of New Mexico men's basketball team snapped a three game losing streak by defeating the Sacramento State Hornets 77-63 Monday night at The Pit. The Lobos (3-3) were led by David Chiotti's second career double-double (24 points, 10 rebounds). Lobo senior Javin Tindall also chipped in 22 points.
The Lobos shot 46.8 percent (22-47) from the field and 76.9 percent (30-39) from the free throw line.
The Hornets tied the game (47-47) at the 9:34 mark of the second half. The Hornets (3-3) started the second half by going on a 11-3 run. Javin Tindall broke the tie with a driving lay up, followed by one of his 10 free throws on the night. The Hornets continued to threaten the Lobo lead, coming to within three points with 3:18 remaining in the game.
Joel Jones scored 25 points for the Hornets in the losing effort,
The Lobos next game will come against Coppin State on Dec. 21 at The Pit. Tip off is set for 1 p.m.
