ALBUQUERQUE - Gera Sanchez and DJ Peterson were selected as the West Region's National Players of the Week by CollegeBaseballInsider.com for their performances against Binghamton and UNLV during the week of March 21-27.

West Player
DJ Peterson (Gilbert, Ariz.)
New Mexico freshman first baseman Peterson batted .579 (11 for 19) in five games with four doubles, two home runs, two walks, eight runs and 10 RBI as the Lobos won all five contests. He had four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI outings. Peterson registered an on-base percentage of .636 and slugging percentage of 1.105.

West Pitcher
Gera Sanchez (Las Cruces, N.M.)
New Mexico junior right-hander Sanchez appeared in four games and earned four saves, allowing one hit and no walks in 5.1 innings with six strikeouts. He worked the final inning of Tuesday’s 5-4 win over Binghamton. Sanchez finished each of the three games in the Mountain West sweep of UNLV, fanning five in 4.1 innings against the Rebels.
