NEW MEXICO HEAD COACH Ritchie McKay
"I thought the first five minutes of the second half was the difference in the game. We defended really well. I don't know when the fans finally sat down, but I think that just gave us a lot of confidence and propelled us to victory."
(On David Chiotti's presence); " When we don't play with David in our lineup we really struggle. At BYU and Utah you saw that. He's a great anchor for our defense and he really helped us tonight. He really changed a lot of shots. I think this is as low a scoring game as (Marcus) Slaughter and (Aerick) Sanders have had as a tandem in awhile, so I was really pleased with not only the post defense, but the way the guards helped out as well."
SAN DIEGO STATE HEAD COACH STEVE FISHER
"We have to be able to make plays and complete plays. We didn't do it. We had opportunities to keep us close earlier. The ball has to be ours. Everybody knew Granger is a good shooter. I told [our players] that we should all be a little embarrassed and yet we're not the first team to come in here and get popped pretty good, nor will we be the last and we have to understand that. You don't play well, you're not going to have a chance to win, and we didn't play well. "
