ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The weekend of April 21-22 should pique the UNM volleyball fans' attention, as the the Lobos' 2012 Grass Bash will take place with 15 divisions and thousands of dollars in prizes available. Proceeds from the event benefit the UNM Children's Hospital.
The Grass Bash might be the end of the spring training schedule for the Lobos, but it certainly is one of the spring's most important events, and one that is highly attended every year. The Grass Bash takes place Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22 at the South Johnson Fields, where volleyball courts and participants will both be plentiful.
On Saturday, divisions include Co-Ed, with Co-Ed Doubles Open, A, and B flights, and Co-Ed Fours. Women's Open, Women's A Division, Men's Open, Men's A Division, Men's Over 40, and Women's Over 40 will take place Sunday. The 18&U girls, 16&U girls, 14&U girls, 12&U girls (12's will plays 4s) will be on Sunday as well.
Cost of the Grass Bash is $25 per play for adults, and $20 per player for students. Participants can download the Grass Bash flyer and the registration form and medical release, or they can be picked up at the volleyball offices at Johnson Center. The advanced registration deadline is April 18th, and registrations after that date will incur an additional $5 charge.
