New Mexico 24, UNLV 20

LAS VEGAS (AP) - DonTrell Moore ran for 141 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries to lead New Mexico to a 24-20 win over UNLV on Saturday.

UNLV was slowed by six turnovers, including four fumbles.

Marcus Smith rushed for 83 yards for New Mexico (3-4, 1-2 Mountain West), including a 65-yard scoring run down the right sideline with 6:59 left in the third quarter, tying the game at 17.

New Mexico took the lead for good when Kole McKamey tossed a 34-yard scoring pass to Anthony Carter later in the period. McKamey completed 14 of 26 passes for 92 yards.

Earvin Johnson caught two touchdown passes and finished with 144 yards receiving for UNLV (2-5, 1-2). Dominique Dorsey ran for 110 yards on 18 carries.

The Lobos stopped UNLV late when Mike Mohoric sacked quarterback Kurt Nantkes, who fumbled. New Mexico's Fola Fashola recovered the ball at the 44-yard line with 1:07 left.

Nantkes finished 8-of-18 for 82 yards and an interception, and Shane Steichen completed 9 of14 for 124 yards and an interception for the Rebels.

The Lobos outrushed the Rebels 284 yards to 156.

Steichen threw scoring passes of 19 and 47 yards to Johnson in the first half as UNLV build a 17-10 halftime lead.

The Lobos jumped to a 7-0 lead on Moore's 8-yard run up the right side with 7:41 left in the first quarter.
