The University of New Mexico women's golf team shot a 20-over 304 in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate today. The Lobos are 18-over for the tournament (282-304=586) and in 14th place in the 16-team field. All four individuals who scored for UNM today posted 5-over 76's.
Senior Morgan Grantham still leads the way for New Mexico. She is tied for 29th at 2-over (69-76=145) after the first two rounds. Grantham posted two birdies, five bogeys and a double in her round of 76 today.
Junior Jodi Ewart is 4-over after 36 holes (70-76=146) and tied for 40th in the individual race. Her lone birdie of the day come on the 488-yard, par-5 seventh hole. She also had six bogeys on her way to a 5-over 76.
Freshman Rebecca Hellbom is 7-over after two rounds following her 76 today (73-76=149). She is tied for 59th in the individual race and still looking for her first birdie of the tournament. She had five bogeys in her round today.
Junior Britney Choy is 10-over four the event, posting 76's in each of her first two rounds. Choy was up and down all round in her first 18 holes yesterday. Today she was much more consistent, but still put up the same number. In her first round she had five birdies, six bogey and two double-bogeys. Today she posted three bogeys and one double.
Senior Mikaela Backstedt shot a 12-over 83 in her second round today. She is tied for 71st at 11-over (70-83=153).
UCLA leads the Stanford Intercollegiate at 5-under (277-286=563). Southern Cal (279-286=565, -3) and Oklahoma State (278-289=567, -1) are the only other teams under-par in the tournament. Oklahoma State's Caroline Masson leads the individuals at 7-under (65-70=135). The event concludes tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT).
