LAS VEGAS, Nev.-Three University of New Mexico women's soccer players were selected to 2008 All-Mountain West Conference teams as announced by the conference today. Sophomore midfielder Alexis Ball received first team honors while seniors goalkeeper Shannon Adragna and forward Hannah Hand captured second team honors. The All-MWC teams are selected by the conference coaches. They are not allowed to vote for their own players.
Ball picked up first team honors. The Albuquerque, N.M., native scored three goals and notched one assist in MWC play. Ball was selected to the All-MWC second team as a freshman in 2007.
Adragna earned second team honors for the second time. She was also recognized in 2006. The senior from Albuquerque's Sandia High School posted a 3-3-1 record in MWC play while picking up consecutive shutouts over Air Force on Oct. 10 and Wyoming on Oct. 12. Adragna was the first UNM women's soccer player to earn two MWC Defensive Player of the Week awards in the same season, on Sept. 29 and Oct. 13.
Hand earned second team honors, scoring one goal and notching on assist in MWC action. Last Friday, Hand scored the game-winner in a 2-1 decision over UNLV that secured a spot for the Lobos in the MWC Championship.
