New Mexico at Colorado

• The Steve Alford era of Lobo basketball begins with a 54-47 victory at Colorado...New Mexico wins for the 3rd time in 7 tries at CU...the last win was 78-75 in the 1975-76 season opener

• New Mexico is now 76-29 in season openers, including 40-6 since the 1962-63 season

• The Lobos were 1-10 away from home during the 2006-07 season and had won just 1 of their last 13 true road games since late in the 2005-06 season

• UNM only trailed once in the game at 2-0...the Lobos' biggest lead was 41-28

• The Lobos drew 5 charges on the defensive end

• New Mexico held Colorado to 34% (15-44) shooting from the floor, including just 21% (4-19) from 3-point

• Freshman Jonathan Wills led the Lobos with 13 points in his first collegiate start, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range...Wills scored 11 points in the 1st half

• Junior Chad Toppert did not start, but scored 11 points and pulled down a career-high 9 rebounds...his previous high was 6 boards three times last year...Toppert made 4-6 FGs, 2-4 from 3-point and 1-2 FTs in 24 minutes

• Sophomore Roman Martinez also came off the bench to tie a career-high with 7 rebounds...he added 7 points, 3 assists and 0 turnovers in a team-high 28 minutes

• The Lobos got 22 points from their reserves

• Richard Roby, CU's leading scorer the past 3 seasons, was held to 1 point, a free throw with 1:16 left in the game...Roby averaged 17.3 points last year and scored 12 against UNM last year in Albuquerque
