LARAMIE, Wyo. --- The University of New Mexico football team arrived in Laramie Saturday morning despite the snowy conditions. Two snowplows and the Wyoming State Police led a UNM convoy from Cheyenne to Laramie under blowing snow and icy roads. The team, who arrived in Cheyenne Friday evening as the weather took hold on the area, woke up to a closed road to Laramie and was forced to wait for state assistance. The team slow made the hour and half trip for today's game against Wyoming.
Snow continues to fall in War Memorial Stadium as the grounds crew drags the field. Cloudy skies over Laramie as the teams prepare for the noon kickoff. The game will be broadcast live on The Mountain West Sports Network.
Today's game is a similar situation as the 2003 contest between UNM and Wyoming played on Nov. 22, when the team arrived to a snow covered Laramie in the middle of the night. After less than five hours of sleep, UNM went on to defeat the Cowboys 26-3.
