ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--- The Lobo men's and women's cross country teams, both ranked in the top 10 nationally, will cap off their regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 16, as they head to the University of Santa Clara for the annual Bronco Invitational. The meet is held at Baylands Park in Santa Clara, Calif., and will be the last for the Lobos before the Mountain West Conference championships NCAA regional and national championships.
Nicholas Kipruto leads the 10th-ranked Lobo men. The junior was recently named Cross-Country Athlete-of-the-Week by the Mountain West Conference and has had a phenomenal start to his career at New Mexico. He placed second at the Roy Griak and Notre Dame Invitational, helping the Lobos to claim top ten finishes at both.
On the women's side, Ruth Senior is the top performer for the eighth-ranked Lobos this fall. Senior has a pair of top-20 finishes to her credit, placing eighth at the Roy Griak and sixteenth at the Notre Dame Invite.
The Bronco Invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. MST.
The Field The Bronco Invitational hosts a field of 31 teams from seven states. In addition to New Mexico, the other schools participating include the Academy of Art, American River, Boise State, Cal, Cal State East Bay, Chico State, CSMUB, Delta College, Dominican, Fresno State, Hawaii, Holy Names, Idaho State, Lamar, Long Beach State, Nevada, Nevada-Las Vegas, Northwest Nazarene, Notre Dame de Namur, Pepperdine, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, Santa Cruz, San Diego, San Jose State, San Francisco State, Simpson, South Florida, Stanford, UC Davis, UCLA, and Santa Clara.
