Women's Clinic July 18: One of the more popular Lobo football summer camps returns to Branch Field on July 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as Bob Davie, his staff, and Lobo players hold a women's clinic. The camp is designed to be fun, but there is a lot of hands-on and in-depth instruction as Davie and the Lobos explain some of the intricacies of New Mexico football. There also will be food!

University of New Mexico senior football players Kasey Carrier and Ben Skaer both have earned College Sports Madness preseason first-team all-Mountain West honors, the publication released on Friday.

Carrier, from Pearland, Texas, set a UNM rushing record with 1,469 yards last season and his 122.8 yards rushing per game ranked 12th in the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012.

Skaer, a product of Waterloo, Ill., ranked 17th in the country last season with an average of 43.85 yards per punt. He helped UNM lead the MW in net punting with a 39.0-yard average per attempt.

Five other Lobos earned accolades on the College Sports Madness teams. Junior kick returner Chase Clayton was a second-team all-conference selection. Senior offensive tackle Darryl Johnson, junior offensive guard LaMar Bratton, senior defensive lineman Jacori Greer and senior inside linebacker Dallas Bollema all earned third-team all-MW honors.

The Lobos' 2013 season opener is Aug. 31 against Texas San-Antonio on Branch Field at University Stadium at 6 p.m.
