ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Lobo softball will host the New Mexico Invitational this weekend at Lobo Field. UNM welcomes Drake, Texas Tech and Wisconsin to Albuquerque for the three-day event. The tournament will consist of four games Friday and Saturday with two scheduled for Sunday. Gametracker will be available for each day along with live video on www.GoLobos.com. Scott Galetti will provide play-by-play Friday and Sunday for the Lobo games.

UNM is 3-5 on the season and are coming off the Getterman Classic. The Lobos won two of the five games last weekend including victories over UT-San Antonio and Northwestern State (La.). Senior Samantha Hughes currently leads the team with a .480 batting average and three home runs. Junior Katie Gilmore has hit three doubles and enters the New Mexico Invitational with a .385 batting average.
The Lobos have used two pitchers this season in senior Analise Rubalcava and true-freshman Danielle Castro. Rubalcava has pitched a team-high 35 innings and has a 2-3 record with a 3.80 earned run average (ERA). Castro is 1-2 on the season with a 4.12 ERA.
New Mexico will open the tournament Friday against Wisconsin at 4 p.m. before taking on Drake at 6 p.m. Saturday, UNM will play Texas Tech at 1 p.m. and Drake at 4 p.m. The Lobos concluded the tournament Sunday against the Red Raiders at 12 p.m.
Softball fans will only be allowed to park in the highland lot Saturday due to a men's basketball game. The highland lot is a free lot located just behind the center field fence.
Scouting Wisconsin - The Badgers are 2-6 overall and have won their last two games. Wisconsin went 2-2 last weekend at the Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Leah Vanevenhoven leads the Badgers in the circle and at the plate. Vanevenhoven is hitting .375 and has recorded back-to-back wins. Vanevenhoven is 2-1 on the year with a 3.20 ERA. Letty Olivarez is 0-5 in the circle with a 4.94 ERA but is hitting .320. Wisconsin is hitting .240 as a team and has used as many as three pitchers.
Following the Bulldogs - Drake is 4-1 on the year but has only played in one tournament this year. The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-1 victory over Minnesota Sunday and carry momentum into this weekend. Drake is hitting .189 as a team and led by Erin Mollohan and Jenna DeLong. Mollohan is hitting .294 with two home runs and seven RBI. DeLong has a .286 average in 17 at-bats. The Bulldogs have primarily used three pitchers including DeLong. DeLong is 1-1 in the circle with a 1.95 ERA. Brynne Dordel has pitched the most innings (18.1) and has a 2-0 record with a 2.67 ERA.
Tracking the Red Raiders - Texas Tech has lost six straight games and enters the New Mexico Invitational with a 2-6 overall record. The Red Raiders are led by Leah Legler who is hitting .346 with a team leading nine hits. TTU is hitting .245 as a team with only two home runs. Texas Tech has used four pitchers. Ashley Jacobs and Tye Coats have handled most of the duties. Jacobs is 1-4 with a 4.36 ERA while Coats is 1-1 with a 4.72 ERA.
