Three Lobos Named All-Mountain West Conference

LAS VEGAS --- Three New Mexico women's basketball players were named All-Mountain West Conference today by the league office. Senior Amy Beggin was named first-team all-conference and earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team. Juniors Jessica Kielpinski and Amanda Best were named honorable mention All-MWC. The awards were voted on by the nine league coaches. New Mexico opens the 2010 Conoco Mountain West Conference Championship Tuesday against Colorado State at 4:30 p.m. (PST).

Beggin nabs her third All-MWC honor and earned her first first-team award. Beggin is leading New Mexico with 13 points per game and is chipping in 10.5 points per contest during conference play. Beggin is one of the top players to every compete at New Mexico ranking in the top 10 in several catagories including points, 3-pointers, field goals, assists and minutes played.

Beggin has earned back-to-back All-Defensive team honors after nabbing the award as a junior.

Best and Kielpinski earn their first All-MWC awards.

Best averaged 8.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game during conference play. She scored in double figures six times during league play including a career-high 21 points against Wyoming. Best led UNM in scoring five times and rebounding twice in 16 league games.

Kielpinski had two double-doubles in MWC action. She averaged 7.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per conference game. She scored in double figures seven times and four times recorded double figure rebounds.

New Mexico has three players named All-MWC for the first time since the 2007-08 season when Dionne Marsh, Brandi Kimble and Beggin were recognized.
