NEW MEXICO HEAD COACH Don Flanagan
(on the Lobos' 20-game winning streak against New Mexico State):
"Well, we've been fortunate. Obviously their team is getting better and they're more and more difficult to defend. They played a hard game today. They did a nice job of playing. I thought they wore down a little bit as the game progressed and I thought our defense in the last eight minutes was outstanding."
(on the Lobos' defense against NMSU):
"They just scored 80 points in their last game so when you hold them in the 40s, which we did, that's an excellent effort. I thought we defended everything a lot better than we did the first time (we played NMSU this season). The first time we tried to switch a lot of screens and it just doesn't work. I've got to keep players responsible for getting over screens and it's difficult because a lot of them aren't quite stationary screens."
(on Abbie Letz):
"One thing you can't measure when you're recruiting kids is heart and desire. She is in a lot of pain, but she wanted to play against the Aggies. She always loves playing against the Aggies. Both her mom and dad played basketball for the Aggies. She went through her senior year, played them eight times and was 8-0, and I think she's pretty happy right now."
