AUSTIN, Texas - The women's distance medley relay team finished 14th as the University of New Mexico wrapped up a strong four-day performance at the 77th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this afternoon. The Lobo foursome of Amanda Swann, Kimilia Davis, Riann Lucy and Jacquelyne Gallegos crossed the line in 12:08.18 in front of a large Saturday crowd at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Altough senior Branden Bennett did not clear the minimum height in the section A pole vault competition on Saturday afternoon, several Lobos enjoyed outstanding performances during their stay in Austin. Senior Mark Johnson opened the meet with a personal-best and NCAA provisional qualifying score of 7,141 in the decathlon. Fellow senior Jason Barkemeyer turned in a PR of his own with a regional qualifying mark of 173-02 in the discus, while junior Jamie Fishencord surpassed the regional qualifying standard in the hammer throw for the third straight meet.
New Mexico returns to action next week when the team travels to Arizona for the Mesa Classic on Friday, April 9 and Arizona State's Sun Angel Classic on Saturday, April 10.
