LAS CRUCES, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico men's tennis team beat the New Mexico State Aggies for the 86th time in the history of the two programs on Friday with a 5-2 win. The Lobos have a 10.5-6 lead in the Rio Grande Rivalry.
In doubles, Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski, ranked No. 45 dominated Jeff Pfeifer and Jim Brouleau 8-0 at No. 1. Graeme Kassautzki and Joe Wood put the Lobos ahead 1-0 by squeezing past Gustave Diep and Alejandro de Mucha 9-7.
UNM won four singles to take the Dual. No. 39 Jones beat Diep 7-6, 6-4. Johnny Parkes, ranked No. 91, defeated Brouleau 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2. Miles Bugby went down a set but won 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 against Stefan McKinney. Kamil Pajkowski finished the match against Eduardo Salas with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
The Lobos are over .500 for the first time since 1-0 with a 5-4 record after their third straight win. The Aggies fall to 3-3.New Mexico will face Texas Tech on the same courts in Las Cruces tomorrow at 1 p.m.
