Streaking Lobos Host UTEP Tuesday for Cherry Crush Night

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The New Mexico women's basketball team hosts UTEP Tuesday for Cherry Crush Night inside The Pit at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live in the Albuquerque area on KASY My50-TV with Scott Stiegler and Abbie Letz calling the action. The Lobos enter the contest on a six-game winning streak and are 9-1 overall. The Miners are coming off a win Sunday and roll into town with a 5-4 record. The game will also be available on 610 AM The Sports Animal with live video streaming and gametracker on www.GoLobos.com.

UNM will have its annual Cherry Crush Nights Tuesday and Wednesday. Cherry Crush t-shirts are currently available for $7.95 at the UNM Bookstore, the New Mexico Look and the Lobo Store located at The Pit. Fans who purchase a t-shirt will receive a ticket to the Lobo women's basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 16 against UTEP at 7 p.m. AND a ticket to the Lobo men's basketball game against ORU on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

The Lobos are off to one of their best starts in school history. UNM is 9-1 for only the fifth time in school history and remain undefeated inside The Pit at 9-0.

New Mexico is coming off a big win Saturday over Texas Tech, 63-54, in front of a season-high crowd of 9,236. The Lobos scored 41 second-half points to pull away from the Lady Raiders. UNM had three players score in double figures including a career-high 27 points from junior Amy Beggin. Seniors Amanda Adamson and Angela Hartill both had their first career double-doubles. Adamson chipped in 10 points and pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds. Hartill scored 16 points and had 10 boards.

The victory capped off a perfect week for the Lobos after UNM defeated North Texas last Tuesday. New Mexico also went to 2-0 against the Big 12 conference with the win over the Lady Raiders.

The Lobos only have three non-conference games remaining on the schedule. UNM hosts UTEP Tuesday and travels to New Mexico State Saturday. Both games will be televised in the Albuquerque area. The game against the Miners will be on KASY My50TV while the NMSU game will be aired on Aggie Vision.

Tuesday's game features the Lobos vs. the Miners. UNM is 29-13 all-time against the Miners and have won 19 of 22 games in Albuquerque. UTEP defeated New Mexico, 57-53, in El Paso, Texas on Dec. 30, 2007.

UTEP defeated Mississippi Valley State, 85-52, Sunday in El Paso and have won three of its last four games. The Miners have four players averaging in double figures. Brittnay Jones leads UTEP in scoring with 11.6 points per game.
