D.D. Cox rushed for over 100 yards for the third time this season. He finished the game with 127 yards rushing...Cox and Moore rushed for over 100 yards each for the second time this season.
The UNM defense allowed season lows for points (3), yards rushing (23), yards passing (99) and total offense (122), which is the 14th best in school history...the Lobo defense recorded a season high seven sacks and notched their first safety since the San Diego St. game last season...the Lobo defensive averages the past seven games are 77 yards rushing per game and 266.42 yards total offense per game.
Casey Kelly moves into the top spot all alone as the starting quarterback with the most wins at the University of New Mexico with 19 wins...Kelly passes Jim Cromartie who went 18-6 from 1960-62.
With today's victory UNM finishes the regular season with an 8-4 record...it is only the eight time in school history that the Lobos have finished the season with eight or more victories...the win also continues New Mexico's distinction of being the only school in the nation to increase it's win total every year since 1999...UNM also finishes the conference season with an undefeated record on the road (3-0) for the first time since 1982.
Head Coach Rocky Long moves into a tie for third place with 33 career victories at UNM... Long is currently tied with Dennis Franchione and trails Bill Weeks, who won 40 games and Roy Johnson with 41 wins.
UNM continues its dominance over Wyoming with its fourth straight victory over the Cowboys...it is the first time the Lobos have won four straight over Wyoming since a seven-game winning streak from 1969-75...the 23-point victory is the largest margin of victory by UNM in Laramie.
Wes Zunker had his consecutive field goal streak end at 15 with a missed 41-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter.
