ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--- The University of New Mexico women's swimming and diving team travels to Oklahoma City, Okla. where the Lobos will compete in the 2008 Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving Championships February 27- March 1 at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. This will mark the ninth time in conference history that the event will be held at the OKCCC Aquatic Center. Preliminary races will begin each morning at 9 a.m. and finals will be held each night at 5 p.m.
New Mexico (2-8 Overall, 1-6 MWC) enters the championships eighth in place. In last year's championship the Lobos finished seventh with 260 points.
Senior diver Carrie Quinn hopes to make a strong appearance as she currently holds the top scores for the season in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives for the Lobos. She has already qualified for NCAA competition in March.
Sophomore Ashley Grisdale is one of the Lobos looking to improve their top times on the season to qualify for NCAA Regionals. Grisdale currently holds the third top time in the 200-yard butterfly in the MWC (2:04.65).
