Lobos Cruise To 164.5-114.5 Win Over Aggies In Final Home Meet Of The Season

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Head coach Bill Spahn and seniors Becca Barras, Aimee Dunavant and Nicole Overeem had a happy ending to their careers as the New Mexico women's swimming and diving team won its final meet of the season, 164.5-114.5, over rival New Mexico State. The Lobos won 11 of the 16 events.

Barras continued to dominate the boards, winning both the 1- and 3-meter boards after turning in scored of 311.10 and 365.55, respectively. Dunanvant won the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.39) while Overeem won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:02.72).

Freshmen Tori Clarridge and Rachel Evans also had outstanding performance, each capturing two wins. Clarridge won the 100-yard backstroke (58.62) and the 100-yard free (53.29). Evans nabbed first in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:08.21 and 2:32.94.

Also getting individual wins were sophomore Jenna Syverson and freshman Andrea Zarins. Syverson took the 50-yard free in 24.28, a personal best. Zarins grabbed the 200-yard free in 1:58.29.

The Lobo 200-yard medley relay team of Evans, Syverson and sophomores Jen Hale and Katy Vandam also earned a first place finish with their time of 1:50.30.

New Mexico (3-5, 2-4 MWC) awaits the Mountain West Conference Championships held in Oklahoma City, Okla., Feb. 23-26.
