ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will play their second and final exhibition Saturday afternoon at The Pit. The Lobos will face the Zias of Eastern New Mexico at 2 p.m. (MT). Coach Sanchez and company come into their second exhibition game on the heels of a 91-18 win over Northern New Mexico on Tuesday evening.

Saturday's match will give the program another opportunity to prepare for their upcoming 2012-13 season. The Lobos have added a handful of fresh faces and are also welcoming back another handful of players who missed extensive time last season because of injury.

In the blowout win over Northern New Mexico, the Lobos were led in scoring by Caroline Durbin. Durbin scored her game-high 21 points in just 13 minutes of action. The other double-digit scorer for UNM was Khadijah Shumpert who tallied 17 points and eight rebounds. The team held the Eagles to just 18 total points, which tied an all-time record. The Lobos held Tennessee State to 18 total points in a regular season game during the 2003-04 season.

Eastern New Mexico is coached by Lindsey Wilson who is in her second season at the helm of the Zia program. However, the history between these two programs goes all the way back to the 1974-75 season. New Mexico has a 7-2 lead in the all-time series, and they won the most recent game played last season.

UNM beat ENM 54-33 on November 22, 2011 in a regular season game. Porche Torrance (14 points) and Caroline Durbin (twelve points) were the only Lobos in double figures in a game that was an offensive struggle for both teams. Neither team shot better than 32% from the floor. The two teams shot even worse from behind the arc as UNM completed 12.5% of their threes and Eastern just 20.0%. The victory was the first of the Yvonne Sanchez era at New Mexico.

New Mexico will officially open the 2012-13 season on Friday, November 9th at 7 p.m. versus Northern Arizona in The Pit.

Game Notes Vs. Eastern New Mexico

  • After going down to Eastern New Mexico 5-2 in the first 3:18 (16:42) of the game, New Mexico gained the lead with a 12-0 run over the next 7:25.

  • The Lobos had seven assists on eight made field goals in the first half.

  • The Lobos's 25.8 percent shooting from the field in the first half was the exact same first-half shooting percentage the Lobos had against ENMU last season.

  • For the second straight game, freshman point guard Bryce Owens recorded seven or more assists. On Saturday afternoon she had 10 assists and only 1 turnover after having seven assists and four turnovers versus Northern New Mexico on Tuesday. Had it been a regular season game, she would have been the first Lobos to record 10 or more assists since Mandi Moore had 11 assists versus Wyoming on March 4th, 2004.

  • The Lobos scored and rebounded as a team. All eleven of the Lobos who played registered a point and 10-of-11 recorded a rebound.

  • The Lobos 19-point victory was greater than UNM's all-time average margin of victory of 15.3 points per game. It did fall short of their all-time series biggest margin of victory which was 51 points in the 1979 season.

  • UNM had stronger shooting at the game went on. After shooting 25.8% in the first half, the Lobos shot 44.8% in the second half.

  • The first-half rebounding battle was a draw at 21 rebounds for each team. New Mexico had a 23-15 rebounding advantage in the second half.

  • The Lobos now lead the all-time series 8-2, which began back in the 1974-75 season.
