ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico volleyball hosts its first two of five camps next week, June 18-22. Both of next week's sessions - Little Lobos Camp and Individual Skills Camp--are full and have waiting lists, while the remaining three camps scheduled for July - Advanced Camp, Setters/Libero Camp and Team Camp--have space, but are filling fast.

Head coach Jeff Nelson is looking forward to the 2012 summer sessions and is pleased with the interest young volleyball players are taking in improving their skills.

"We look forward to hosting all of the young athletes at camp every year and it's exciting that we're sold out and we have a waiting list for the first camp," Nelson said. "It's always fun and hopefully it's a good experience for them and they will want to come back to the University of New Mexico over and over again."

New Mexico volleyball is hosting five different camps during June and July. The Little Lobos and Individual Skills camps are already sold out. The Advanced Skills Camp is July 12-15 and the Setter and Libero Camp is July 16-18. Both camps are for athletes in 7th-12th grade. Cherry and Silver Team Camp is July 20-22 and is for high school teams. A certified athletic trainer will be in attendance of each camp.

"I think camp should be a learning experience and fun," Nelson said. "Hopefully, by the number of participants we're getting, that's what's happening. We've been very fortunate to sell out the last few years."

Nelson and assistant coaches Lisa Beauchene and Ben Wallis, along with a number of Lobo volleyball players will conduct the camps.

All camps will be held at the Johnson Center on UNM's main campus. Athletes can read a full description of the camps as well as register by clicking here, or by printing off and mailing in the 2012 New Mexico Volleyball Camp Brochure Get Acrobat Reader
