Austin, Texas- Albuquerque native Deanna Young broke the school record in the triple jump today at the 83rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The junior jumped a 43-10.75 to claim the new school record.

"It means a lot to have broken the school record," Young said. "The previous record was set by my old summer coach so it was very fun to break that."

The previous record was 43-01.50 set by Lavern Clarke in 1990. Young's previous personal best in the event was 42-10.75 that she set in 2008.

"During the jump I felt great," Young said. "I had a lot of adrenaline. I broke my goal for the season with my jump today."

Young moves into fourth place on the MWC all-time list in the event.
