LUBBOCK, Texas - The New Mexico softball team (16-8) won 3-0 over Texas Tech behind junior Ashley Perkins' complete game efforts that struck out eight and allowed just two hits in the Mutual of Omaha Lady Raider Classic.
Freshman Ryanne Hodgins got the Lobos started in the third inning when she doubled to left field to drive in senior Kim Korsak who had reached on an error to lead off the inning. Junior Cassie Chavez stepped up to the plate following Hodgins and doubled to center field to score Hodgins.
For the game, Chavez and Hensley went 2-3 while Kennedy was 1-2. Leading the Raiders were Elyssa Sigala and Natalie Enderlin, each recording a hit off Perkins.
Perkins earned her eighth win of the season. Suffering the loss was Julie Hauck who pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, one earned un and striking out one.
Earlier in the day, the Lobos beat Columbia 5-4 and lost to Texas Tech 5-3.
New Mexico completes tournament play tomorrow against Texas Tech at 12 p.m. CST.
