The University of New Mexico women's soccer team takes on TCU Friday night at 5 p.m. at the UNM Soccer Complex as the Lobos host Senior Night. Six Lobos will be taking the pitch in the final regular season match of the 2011 schedule.
The Lobos currently lead the Mountain West with a record of 3-0-2. Headed into the match New Mexico is riding a 6-0-2 unbeaten streak, dating back to Sept. 18. In the statistics column, UNM leads the MW in shots, points, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, goals allowed, goals against average and is second in shutouts this season.
Two seniors are making noise in the MW ranks as Jael Fanning leads the conference in assists and assists per game this season and Jennifer Williams leads in shots, shots per game, points, points per game, goals and goals per game this season and in MW action.
Junior goalkeeper Kelli Cornell has a goals against average of 0.72 throughout 17 games to also lead the MW.
With a victory over TCU on Friday night, New Mexico would clinch the 2011 Mountain West women's soccer regular-season title and the No. 1 overall seed in the 2011 MW Women's Soccer Championship.
The Lobos have not lost a conference matchup since October 23, 2009 and have since posted a record of 9-0-4 in MW competition. In 2010 New Mexico captured the MW regular season championship with record of 5-0-2.
