LARAMIE, Wyo. --- The University of New Mexico volleyball team struggled to put together any offense as Wyoming beat the Lobos, 30-28, 30-23, 30-19.

In Game One, the Lobos had a 20-14 lead on a 6-0 run with Jade Michaelsen serving. Wyoming chipped away at the lead, pulling even at 26. New Mexico took the lead one more time, 27-26, but the Cowgirls got several key kills to win, 30-28.

Game Two saw Wyoming get out to a 5-1 lead. The Lobos worked their way back into the game, evening things up at 14 on a block by Kerri Beck and Jade Michaelsen. But a kill by Wyoming gave the Cowgirls the ball back and Rachel Smith got UW to 19-14. Wyoming pulled ahead 23-16. UNM pulled to within four, 23-19, on a service ace by Sarah Kwasigroch. Wyoming kept the Lobos at arms length winning the game, 30-23.

The Cowgirls quickly built a 21-8 lead in Game Three. UNM closed the gap to seven, 23-16, on a block by Anna Lehne and Lisa Meeter. But Wyoming pulled away, winning 30-19.

Jeanne Fairchild led the Lobos with 13 kills, while Rose Morris had six. Meeter and Gayle Tripp led the back row in digs with 12 each, while Kwasigroch had 11.

The Lobos (14-7, 5-4 MWC) face Air Force on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. in Colorado Springs.
