New Mexico Head Coach Don Flanagan
On The Game
"We never got into our offense tonight and didn't execute. San Diego State is a good team but we didn't do a lot of the little things to win tonight.

"They outrebounded us down the stretch. We didn't execute when it was close and had opportunities. Overall throughout the whole night we didn't execute our offense. I thought we were decent on defense but they are tough to defend. They have a lot of shooters, scorers and drivers. They were patient and got a lot better shot selection than we did.

"We will go back and work on our offense and continue to play aggressive defense. I was pretty happy with our defense because it kept us in the game. Everything was fairly even especially turnovers so we aren't killing ourselves with turnovers. We are killing ourselves on offense by not cutting, not moving, not screening and not hitting open shots.

"When you have success the pressure builds on you sometimes and then you aren't playing with as much confidence. You start playing not to lose rather than playing to win.

"San Diego State is one of the better teams in the conference. They can beat you on any given night. If they shoot very well it's going to be tough. They are tough and ran transition very well. We were at home and have no excuses for tonight. They won the game because they played better."

New Mexico junior Amy Beggin
On taking the final shot down the stretch:
"I would have loved to take the final shot but I couldn't free myself from the defender. This is a learning lesson for us. Hopefully we can use this to our advantage and learn from it."

On how the team played in general:
"Some of the wins we've got this year we didn't play well for the full 40 minutes. In this game, you can't get away with little mistakes when you play a team like San Diego State. This was a good test for us and a reminder that we have to do things right if you want to win in this conference."

New Mexico sophomore Amanda Best
On what UNM will take from the game:
"This is a lesson, so we need to take it as that. Tomorrow we need to get back to work and get better. Hopefully this teaches us to do the little things. We didn't block out very well and they continued to get countless second chances on missed free throws and shots down the stretch."
