Lobos in Ninth at National Invitational Tournament

TUCSON, ARIZ. - The University of New Mexico men's golf team is currently in ninth place at the 11-team National Invitational Tournament. The Lobos shot a 3-over par 291 on the par-72 7,094 yard Omni Tucson National Golf Course. UNM is 12-strokes behind tournament leader Arizona State, which shot an opening round 279.

Individually for New Mexico, Miguel Griego and Jay Reynolds are tied for 15th after an even round 72 to lead the Lobos. Other UNM results are Madalitso Muthiya is tied for 28th at 1-over par, Ian Medlock is 2-over par and tied for 35th and Tyler Symons is tied for 54th at 5-over par.

The individual lead belongs to Ryan Moore of UNLV at 8-under par and two strokes behind is Alex Noren of Oklahoma State.

The National Invitational Tournament will continue with 18 holes of play in Tucson, Arizona.
