Walnut, Calif.- Lee Emanuel has captured another New Mexico school record. The Hastings, England product ran a 13:31.56 in the 5,000m Friday at the 52nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. The time breaks the old school record (13:35.59) by over four seconds. The time was good for an 11th place finish in the event.

"It was hard, running that distance always is," Emanuel said. "I managed to finish over a lot of people which is always good."

Emanuel now claims both the 5K and the 1,500-meter (3:37.25) outdoor records, along with the 800 meters (1:50.15), 3,000 meters (7:51.20) and the mile (3:57.62) for indoors.

"I am trying to break as many school records as I can. It's always nice to do that. However, I think I am running out of records to break. Someone will come along in a couple of years and break the records again so I am enjoying this while I can."

Emanuel wasn't the only Lobo who had a great day. Senior Chris Barnicle smashed his previous career-best in the 5K by over 20 seconds. Barnicle ran a 13:36.02 to finish 18th. Barnicle was on pace to break his record by even more but lost his rhythm towards the end.

"I was on a great pace until about 100 meters out," Barnicle said. "I probably made a move too soon. It was my first race in about five weeks so sometimes that can happen. I still had a very solid race and had a great PR."

The Newton, Mass. product had a previous PR of 14:00.16.

Fellow senior David Bishop set a new career-best in the 1500m running a time of 3:43.73 good for a 6th place finish. Bishop's previous PR in the event was 3:45.82.

Junior Ruth Senior ran a 4:26.24 in the 1500m breaking her old PR of 4:28.96. The time landed Senior a 3rd place finish in the event.

Nicky Archer ran a 16:32.42 in the 5K breaking her old career-best of 16:35.12. Archer finished 25th in the event.

Also setting new career-best in their respective events were:
• Junior Vanessa Ortiz ran a 17:07.30 in the 5K, beating her old PR of 17:49.73
• Sophomore Ross Millington beat his previous PR (3:45.04) in the 1500m, running a 3:44.37
