ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball team may not report to training camp for a few more days, but the team is already pushing ticket sales for opening weekend. The Lobos will host the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic on Aug. 27-29 against Pepperdine, Tulane and Stanford at the Johnson Center. Tulane and Stanford were 2009 NCAA Tournament participants with the Cardinal finishing the season ranked No. 7 in the nation.
The Lobos' annual Jam Johnson match will be on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. against Stanford in the final match of the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic. Admission will be $2 for youth and $3 for adults, a discount from the regular single match price of $3 for youth and $5 for adults.
New Mexico finished the 2009 season ranked 23rd in the nation in attendance with an average of 1,677 fans per match. It was also the first year in program history that over 1,000 fans attended every match in a season. The Lobos are looking to surpass last year's Jam Johnson attendance total of 2,338 fans, the second-largest crowd of the 2009 season at the Johnson Center
